My Karma Is Locked

“Your karma is now locked. A mantra spoken at a Shrine will unlock it again.”

Great. Now you’ve done it. You’ve taken the first step down the path of Shadow. It was unintentional. Sure it was. But now you’re stuck. Branded, like the common thief. So what do you do? Well, lucky for you there is a way out. You can find your way back to the paths of virtue. There’s still hope! All you have to do is find one of the Shrines of Virtue that are scattered across Britannia.

If you’ll remember, Lord British had the Shrines erected years ago, to boost the community’s knowledge of the Eight Virtues. Even in his absence, the Shrines still flourish and provide guidance to the citizens. And now, you need this guidance.

The Shrines will forgive you for your wrongs. All you need to do is pay the proper respects at one of the shrines with the correct mantra. Each shrine is dedicated to a different virtue, each with it’s own mantra. It’s your job to find out which mantra corresponds with which shrine. When you speak the mantra at the shrine, you will receive a message stating, “You once again control your own destiny”.

The following lists the Shrines and their corresponding mantras.

Simply walk up to the Shrine, and speak the Mantra. It’s that easy! But first you have to find the Shrines. A complete map of the Shrines and their locations can be seen below:

Do keep in mind that while you cannot gain karma while it is locked, you may loose karma to your hearts content. Maybe you aren’t the person everyone thinks you are. Do you want to be feared by reputation alone? Do you want people to duck for cover, or flee the area upon your arrival? Do you want to be evil?

Then make your way to the Shrine of Chaos and recite it’s Mantra of ‘Bal’. Your karma will lock and you can kill monsters freely without fear of people thinking your intentions are good.
